LinkedIn post guide

LinkedIn post image size and how to make it stand out

LinkedIn takes post photos of at least 552 × 276 px and recommends 1080 px wide, in ratios from 3:1 (wide) to 4:5 (tall), up to 5 MB; LinkedIn says a taller image is centred and cropped to fit. A 1080 × 1350 (4:5) image takes the most room in the feed. You can put up to 20 photos in one post. AwaCut puts your product on a clean colour first, offline.

  1. Cut the product out with AwaCut

Drop the photo, or a whole folder, into AwaCut. Choose Alpha for a transparent PNG, or Custom and type a colour such as #E0E7FF to get it on a plain background straight away. About 4 seconds a photo on a Mac Studio (M4 Max), at full size.

  2. Make it 1080 × 1350

A 4:5 canvas, the product large, a short headline. LinkedIn crops anything taller than 4:5.

  3. Post it

On a computer: the photo icon in the share box, Upload from computer, Next, then Post. In the app: Post, the photo icon, Next, Post.

Example LinkedIn post image: black headphones on a pale indigo background with the words NOW SHIPPING
4:5, the tallest LinkedIn shows, the product large.

1080 × 1350 (4:5), the AwaCut cutout on pale indigo (Custom, #E0E7FF) with a two-word headline.

Check it small

In the feed, the image sits under your text at phone width. A plain background keeps the product readable there.

Three mistakes on LinkedIn post images

  • A tall phone photo

Anything taller than 4:5 is cropped. Make it 4:5 yourself.

  • A wide banner-shaped image

It is allowed down to 3:1 but takes a thin strip of the feed.

  • A product on a cluttered desk

Cables and mugs compete with it. A plain colour leaves only the product.

A product post every week

Companies that post their products every week need a clean image every week. AwaCut cuts out a whole folder at once, so a week of posts is one drop, not one upload per photo. It runs on your computer, with no credits: as many photos as you want, all year.

Try it on your own photos: the first 10 are free, no account.
