Transparent PNG: the guide, and a help center
Two new pages. A guide to exporting transparent PNGs: which of PNG, WebP and JPG actually keep an alpha channel, the three things that most often make a cutout come back white, and how to convert a whole folder at once. And a help center with seventeen support answers about installing on each platform, batches, output formats and how the licence behaves offline, each one checked against the application's own source rather than against our marketing copy.
remove.bg's own questions, answered
The migration page now answers three more questions in the words remove.bg uses on its own FAQ, including what happens to account data. One of them carries a deadline worth passing on: remove.bg says the credit usage report and the invoices cannot be downloaded after 1 December 2026, and sellers need those invoices for their accounting long after the service is gone.
Background Removal Pricing Index: the open dataset behind the cost study
The cost study now sits on a named, downloadable dataset: every published plan of remove.bg, Slazzer, Erase.bg, Pixelcut, Photoshop and AwaCut on the date it was read (append-only, so it becomes a price history), plus the computed yearly cost of 100 to 10,000 images a month and the marginal cost of one more image. Two CSV files, CC BY 4.0, data dictionary and known limitations on the page, Dataset schema, a social card drawn from the numbers. The interest disclosure is stated in the first screen.
Data study: what 1,000 background removals actually cost
New data study computing the yearly cost of bulk background removal across credit, subscription and flat pricing, from published prices (July 2026), including the exact volume where flat pricing wins.
How to remove the background from 500 photos at once
Answer page: one folder, one drop, then a single export. The timing first published here was an estimate; it was replaced on 2026-09-08 by a measured benchmark, about 3 seconds an image and roughly 25 minutes for 500 on an Apple Silicon Mac.
AwaCut 1.0.2: cleaner edges, safer exports
AwaCut now measures the photo's original background and removes its tint from semi-transparent edges (hair, fur, glass), so cutouts drop cleanly onto any new background. Also fixes a rare case where exporting into the originals' folder through a symlinked path could overwrite the source photo.
The best bulk background removers in 2026, honestly compared
Editorial roundup of 9 tools grouped by what each does best, with dated pricing and full disclosure that AwaCut is ours.
AwaCut 1.0 released
First public release: bulk background removal for macOS, Windows and Linux, fully offline, flat $29/year with unlimited images.
