How to change the headshot background for a whole team
Three steps in AwaCut, the same for one portrait or a whole company.
Export the shoot, drop in the folder
Export your selects from Lightroom or any editor as JPG or TIFF, then drag the whole folder in. Hundreds queue at once, about 4 seconds each on a Mac Studio (M4 Max).
Pick one background for the team
White, or Custom for a light grey or the brand colour: type the hex code once and every portrait in the folder gets exactly that colour.
Check hair and shoulders
Each portrait is saved as soon as it is ready: JPG on the colour, or PNG on Alpha if the designer wants transparent files, at the original resolution. Look at hair and shoulders with Before and After.

One colour for everyone, set by hex code
White reads clean, a light grey is the classic corporate look, the brand colour ties the page to the company. Pick one and type its hex code in Custom, so every portrait matches.
Gray headshot background: keep it light
A light, neutral gray such as #E5E5E5 sits well behind dark and fair hair alike. Use the same code for new hires next year and they match the people already on the page.
Lightroom remove background: export first, cut in AwaCut
Finish colour and exposure in Lightroom, export the selects at full size as JPG or TIFF, then drop that folder into AwaCut. The cutouts keep the size you exported.
Why not mask each headshot by hand?

Can I put the whole team on the same background?
Yes. Drop the folder, choose White or a Custom colour once, and every portrait gets the same background. 500 photos take about 32 minutes on a Mac Studio (M4 Max), offline, with no per-image cost.
Which colour works for corporate headshots?
White, a light grey or the brand colour are the usual choices. In Custom you pick the colour on the colour pad or type its hex code, so the team page and the website use exactly the same shade.
How does it handle hair?
The app keeps the outline of the hair and cuts around it on its own. Fine flyaway strands can come out softer, so check them with Before and After. The first 10 photos are free: test it on your own shoot.
Does it work with Lightroom?
Yes, alongside it. Edit in Lightroom, export JPG or TIFF, then drop the export folder into AwaCut. It also reads PNG, WebP and BMP, plus HEIC on a Mac.
Are the employees' photos uploaded anywhere?
No. AwaCut processes every photo on your own computer, with no internet connection needed. Photos never go online, are never used to train AI, and the licence check sends no images.
Will the headshots stay sharp for print?
The output keeps the size of the photo you give it: a 24-megapixel portrait comes back at 24 megapixels, nothing is downscaled. How sharp the print is then depends on the photo you start from.
Can I deliver the edited headshots to a client?
Yes, the exports are yours to use commercially: client galleries, company websites, LinkedIn, print. No watermark is ever written into an export, the ten trial photos included.
Does it work on Mac and Windows?
Yes. AwaCut runs on macOS 13.4 or later (Apple silicon), Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and Linux, and one licence covers 2 computers. Background removal runs on the computer itself, so it works on location without internet too.
What background works for a LinkedIn headshot?
LinkedIn shows profile photos in a circle, so a plain, light background keeps the face the first thing people see. White or a light gray such as #E5E5E5 both work. Use the same hex code as on the team page, and the photos match everywhere.
