Why a desktop app in 2026
Many web tools charge per image or in credits, so a shop that photographs its stock keeps paying. AwaCut runs on the computer you already own. The price is $29 a year for as many photos as you want, and your photos never leave your computer.
What AwaCut is, and what it is not
A background remover for people with a folder of photos and a deadline. Drop in 10 photos or 1,000 and get them back on Alpha, White or a Custom colour, at their original size. It runs on Mac (Apple silicon), Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and Linux. It is not an editor, not a web service, not an API and not a phone app. For one photo in a hurry, a web tool is fine. AwaCut is built for the folder.
How we measure what we claim
Speed figures on this site are measured, not estimated. On 14 October 2026 we ran 100 phone photos of 12 megapixels through the same engine the app uses, on a Mac Studio (M4 Max) with AwaCut 1.0.6. It took 376.5 seconds: 3.77 seconds a photo, so about 4. The model, BiRefNet, runs on your processor, so your speed depends on your computer. When a new measurement changes a number, the changelog says so. Every price in our pricing dataset links to the vendor's own page, with the date it was read.
Signed installers, on Mac and Windows
The Mac app is signed and notarized by Apple. The first time you open it, macOS may ask once whether to open an app downloaded from the internet. The Windows installer is signed by AYA MIM S.R.L., the company named below. If Windows SmartScreen still asks, click More info, then Run anyway.
