Choose what goes behind the cutout
Alpha for a transparent background, White for pure white, or Custom for any colour. Turn on Outline for a border around the cutout, in any colour and thickness, as on a sticker.
Check Before and After, then export
Look at hair and fine edges in the compare view, then export the whole batch as PNG, WebP or JPG, at the original resolution.

Three things that spoil a cutout
Saving the cutout as JPG
JPG has no transparency, so the background comes back white when you save. Keep PNG or WebP when you need the cutout on its own.
Selecting by colour
A magic wand takes every pixel close to the background colour, including parts of the subject with the same colour. AwaCut separates the subject first, so its own colours stay.
Starting from a small copy
A photo that went through a chat app has lost detail around the edges, and no cutout can bring it back. Start from the original file.
Why cut out on your computer

Does it work online?
No, and that is on purpose. AwaCut is a desktop app for macOS 13.4+ (Apple Silicon), Windows 10+ and Linux. It works offline, and your photos are never uploaded or used to train AI.
Can I cut out a person from a photo?
Yes. AwaCut finds the main subject, a person, a product or a pet, and cuts it out. There is no brush for picking one object out of several; for that, use the selection tools in an image editor.
Can I cut out a whole folder of photos at once?
Yes. Drag the folder in and every photo is cut out in one run, at about 4 seconds per photo. 500 phone photos take about 32 minutes.
Will the cutout lose quality?
No. The cutout keeps the original resolution: a 12-megapixel photo comes back at 12 megapixels. Save PNG for transparency, WebP for smaller files, or JPG on a white or coloured background.
