Background changer
How to change the background of a photo to any colour
To change the background of a photo, AwaCut cuts out the subject with AI and puts it on the background you choose: transparent, white, or any colour you pick by eye or by hex code. The same background goes on every photo in a folder, and the photos keep their original size. It all happens on your own computer, with nothing uploaded. To put a different photo or a scene behind the subject, export a transparent PNG and place it over that image in any editor.

1. Add the photos
Drop one photo, a few, or a whole folder into AwaCut. The cutout is made on your computer, so nothing is uploaded.
2. Pick the colour
Choose Custom in the export settings, then pick the colour on the colour pad or type its hex code, for example #3B82F6 for a brand blue. White and transparent are one click each.
3. Compare and export
Check before and after with the slider, then export the whole folder: JPG or PNG for a solid colour, PNG or WebP if you chose transparent.
Which background for which use
| Use | Background | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| Online store or marketplace | White | Amazon requires pure white on the main image; the product photo guide covers each marketplace. |
| Brand catalogue or social posts | Your brand colour, by hex code | Typing the hex code gives exactly the same colour on every photo. |
| Profile and team photos | A soft colour or a light grey | One colour for the whole team keeps the page consistent. |
| Design, collage or a new scene | Transparent PNG | Place it over any photo or scene in your editor. |
AwaCut puts solid colours behind the subject; gradients and photo backdrops are added afterwards in an editor.
Three things that give away a changed background
A coloured halo around the edges
When the old background was coloured, its tint often stays in hair and soft edges and shows against the new colour. When enough of the old background is visible, AwaCut measures it and removes it from the semi-transparent edges.
A slightly different colour on every photo
Picking the colour by eye for each photo drifts. Set it once by hex code and the whole folder gets the identical colour.
Expecting the old shadow to stay
The cutout removes the floor and the shadow on it, so the subject sits cleanly on the new colour. If you want a shadow, add it afterwards in an editor.
Why change the background of the whole folder at once
A catalogue, a team page or a set of listings only looks right when every photo has the same background. AwaCut applies one colour to the whole folder on your own computer, with no credits and no uploads, for a flat $29 a year.
Can I put a different photo or a scene behind the subject?
Not inside AwaCut: it puts solid colours behind the subject. Export a transparent PNG and place it over any photo or scene in an editor such as Photoshop, Canva or GIMP.
Can I use my exact brand colour?
Yes. Type its hex code in the colour picker, for example #3B82F6, and every photo in the export gets exactly that colour.
Can I change the background of many photos at once?
Yes. Drop the folder and every photo gets the same background in one run, offline, with no per-image cost.
Can I make the background transparent instead?
Yes. Choose Alpha and export PNG or WebP. JPG cannot store transparency, so it is not offered with Alpha.
Is it free?
The first 10 images are free, at full resolution, with no account. After that a licence costs $29 a year for unlimited images on up to 2 devices.
