Update, September 2026: remove.bg's own site announces that the standalone service closes on 1 December 2026. Unused pay-as-you-go credits expire that day, subscriptions end with a pro-rata refund, and the self-service API moves to Leonardo.Ai (also part of Canva) with new accounts and per-image credits. When remove.bg is the better pick
