How to take photos for eBay, then clean them all up at once
Three steps in AwaCut, the same for one item or a whole week of listings.
Drop in the week's photos
Phone photos taken on a table, a shelf or the floor: drag the whole folder in and hundreds queue at once, about 4 seconds each on a Mac Studio (M4 Max).
Set the background to White
eBay's photo tips say white backgrounds are generally best. Set White once and every item in the folder gets the same clean white.
Check the JPGs and list
Each photo is saved as a JPG at the original resolution as soon as it is ready. Check Before and After on any of them, then upload the files to your listings.

eBay photo requirements: size, background and what to leave off
Three things to check before a listing goes live.
eBay photo size: 1600 x 1600, up to 12 MB
eBay needs at least 500 pixels on the longest side, recommends about 1600 x 1600 and takes files up to 12 MB. AwaCut keeps the original resolution, so export JPG on White: in our test, 11-megapixel phone photos came out at 0.6 to 1.4 MB and 25-megapixel ones at 1.4 to 4 MB. A PNG on White of the same 25-megapixel photos reached up to 29 MB.
White backgrounds are generally best
That is eBay's own advice: a neutral, uncluttered backdrop, so the item is all the buyer sees. AwaCut puts the same White behind every photo in the folder.
No borders, text or watermarks
eBay's picture policy does not allow added borders, added text or watermarks. Leave Outline off for eBay exports. AwaCut never writes a watermark, the trial photos included.
Why not a per-image web tool?
A reseller lists dozens of items a week, and eBay takes up to 24 photos per listing. eBay's own editor whitens one photo at a time inside each listing, and per-image web tools charge for each one. AwaCut does the whole folder at once for a flat $29 a year: as many photos as you want, all year, on 2 computers, and nothing is uploaded.

Questions eBay sellers ask
About photo size, backgrounds, eBay's picture rules and the price. Not here? Write to contact@aya.software, a person answers.
Are photos on a white background fine for eBay?
Yes. eBay's photo tips say white backgrounds are generally best. Its picture policy rules out added borders, text and watermarks, and AwaCut adds none of those. Only the background changes: the item itself, wear included, stays exactly as you photographed it.
What image size does eBay need?
At least 500 pixels on the longest side. eBay recommends about 1600 x 1600, takes files up to 12 MB and up to 24 photos per listing. AwaCut keeps the original resolution, so phone photos stay well above the minimum, and as JPG on White they stay small: 0.6 to 1.4 MB for an 11-megapixel photo in our test.
How long does a week of listings take?
About 4 seconds a photo on a Mac Studio (M4 Max): 500 phone photos take about 32 minutes there, longer on a slower computer. Start the folder and write your titles while it runs. There are no credits, so the price stays the same at 50 photos or 5,000.
JPG or PNG for eBay?
eBay accepts both. JPG on White is the usual choice for listing photos and keeps files small. Exports keep the original resolution either way.
Can I use photos straight from my iPhone?
Yes. AwaCut reads JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP and TIFF, and on a Mac also HEIC, the iPhone format, so the photos go in as they come off the phone.
Can I try it on my own item photos first?
Yes. The first 10 photos are free, at full resolution, with no account. Take a few of this week's items and compare Before and After.
Does it work on Windows and Mac?
Yes. AwaCut runs on macOS 13.4 or later (Apple silicon), Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) and Linux, and one licence covers 2 computers. Background removal runs on the computer itself, so it works offline too.
What happens if I cancel?
The app keeps working on the version you have. You can cancel anytime; you only stop getting new versions.
eBay can already put a white background on photos. Why AwaCut?
eBay's photo editor can replace the background with white, one photo at a time while you create the listing. AwaCut does the whole week's folder before you list, with the same white behind every item and nothing uploaded, and the same files work on other marketplaces too. For an occasional listing, eBay's own tool does the job.
